If your old porcelain bathtub has started looking dingy, its time to plan a makeover.
Refinishing and refreshing your old porcelain tubs color is achievable using a specialty kit labeled for tubs and tiles.
When done right, it can provide a high-gloss finish that looks and feels like new.
However, if you have an enameled cast iron or steel tub, the process is a little different, and youll need to consult a professional.
No matter which type of bathtub you have, its important to start with a clean surface.
That means removing any and all soap scum, mildew, dirt, and grime build-up.
Youll also need to remove any old paint or other surface treatments before you plan to apply fresh paint.
Luckily, there are a few different ways that you can go about removing paint from your bathtub.
But the cleaning product and supplies you use will generally depend on the type or material of tub you have.
Wipe It Up While Its Wet
If you notice that paint has dripped or splattered onto tiles, its best to remove it quickly before it dries.
Step 1: Use a damp cloth to wipe the patch of paint and rinse it off when the cloth becomes saturated.
Step 2: Apply a solvent. Based on the type of paint used, apply a solvent like mineral thinner or white vinegar to completely remove it from the tile. Using Heat & Scrape To Remove Paint
A heat gun is a great tool to help loosen up stubborn or old paint , especially when it comes to slightly porous tiles, such as ceramic. Heres what youll need: a heat gun, plastic scraper or utility knife, rubber gloves, protection mask, and a soft cloth.

Getting Dried Paint Out Grout
When the paint has already dried on the grout, you will need a solvent to remove it. There are a number of commercial products for doing this, but you will want to make sure that these are formulated for tile and grout so that they are not abrasive enough to damage the floor.
One of the best products for this is simply rubbing alcohol. Be sure you dont put the rubbing alcohol directly on grout, as it can cause discoloring and staining of colored grout. Instead, moisten a cloth and gently blot the area where the paint has dried on. Commercial solvents are also available that are specifically designed for removing paint from grout.
For stubborn paint that has penetrated the grout, a battery-powered toothbrush can gently scrub away the top layer of the grout, removing the paint with it. Larger stains may require both a solvent solution and the action of the toothbrushs bristles to fully remove the paint stain.
With a little time and patience, even paint that has dried on tile and grout can be effectively removed.

How To Remove Paint From Tile Without Damaging The Floor
Whether you got a little careless or carried away with your paint job or are attempting to fix the mistakes of those who came before you, know that doing so is entirely possible, but the exact method may vary depending on the severity of the issue.
If you notice paint spots within the first day, you can usually scrub them off with a fingernail or wipe them up with a damp cloth. After that, the paint drips dry more thoroughly and are harder to remove. But for the next two weeks or so, you can usually still rub the spots off using nothing more than a little water on a cloth.

Scrubbing off the Paint
If you notice that the paint is peeling on its own or appears to be coming off with mild scratching, you may get away with scrubbing it off.

Heating the paint before scrubbing could dramatically easy the process and prevent damage to the tile. By using a heat gun or some other air-based heating mechanism, carefully heat the tiles, by working in small areas and moving slowly along the wall or floor.

Another well-known method of removing paint from floor tile is using a razor blade to scrape the paint. This method is needed in the case of dry paint. Get a tool that will help you hold on to the razor blade, without hurting yourself and at the same time handling it at a convenient angle.
Get hold of the blade at a convenient angle and carefully scrape away the paint from the floor tile. Razor blades can remove almost all types of paint from any floor tile that is non-porous.
Use a clean cloth dipped in slightly soapy water to clean up any paint residue on the floor tiles.

Removing Mould From Wallpaper
So first up let’s remove the mould spots that have grown on your wallpaper. In an ideal world you will know how washable your wallpaper is. If youre in a bathroom or kitchen then you will hopefully have used a washable wallpaper to ensure you can maintain it. If youre not sure on how washable your wallpaper is then it’s a good idea to test the below methods in a small, inconspicuous area before tackling the full wall. Wallpapers that arent washable may experience colour running, or you may rub away the pattern which is why it’s important to test an area first!

Hold the scraper at a 45-degree angle for the best results. Again, refrain from using a metal scraper or razor blade that could permanently harm the tiles. You may find that this method works well to remove paint from vinyl floor as well as laminate.
Use A Natural Solution
A natural and homemade cleaner can be done by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, wring it out and use it to carefully blot away the paint. Vinegar is very effective in removing pesky paint.
It also works well on porous floor tiles. If you want a more powerful solution, add baking soda to the mixture of white vinegar and water.
A razor blade and this natural solution can be used interchangeably to remove a puddle of paint from your floor tile.
Vinegar in the solution has a smell that some people find unpleasant, so, after using the solution, use soapy water to clean the floor tiles thoroughly to get rid of any unpleasant smell.

Chances are it’s some type of epoxy paint designed for tiles. You’ll likely need to use a chemical stripping agent to get the paint off, which will be a messy and potent smelling process. Depending on how many of these tiles need to have the paint removed from them, I’d advise considering painting over. If the stripper is really effective, it could make short work of the job, but in my experience, trying to remove epoxy paints is not exactly a fun process.
Make sure you use appropriate PPE gear like safety glasses and a respirator whilst working in a well-ventilated space.

Wipe it up
If you notice any paint spillage on the crowd, it’s best to remove it immediately before it becomes hardened. The easiest way to do this is to simply wipe it up using a damp cloth. If needed, you can use warm soapy water to help break up the paint . It’s best to use short quick motions so that the paint doesn’t spread to other areas of the grout or tile.
