Anew Gray Vs Other Similar Greige Paint Colors
If youre thinking about using Anew Gray in your home, youre probably debating between it and several other similar greige paints colors so I thought Id do a comparison between Anew Gray and the six other greige paint colors that people are most often deciding between . What Are The Undertones Of Worldly Gray
Undertones are probably the most frustrating part of picking a paint color. Worldly Gray has green undertones which gives it that warmth, but it also has a touch of purple. I know, so confusing right!
The purple in the undertones will not make this color look purple on the wall. Whew! If your room gets a ton of natural light then you will see this paint color become light and the purple undertones will be there .
If your room has very little natural light then you will see more green undertones. This can also be affected by the decor piece you have in the room, such as the upholstered furniture, curtains, and wood tones.
Benjamin Moore Classic Gray
Classic Gray OC-23 is such a stunner! While it can also be considered more of an off-white, the undertones of this color lend it to the greige family as well.

How To Know If Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray Is For You
Every paint store will whip up a sample of any color you want. You can paint this color on your wall and look at it over the course of a few days in different lights. But then you are left with that paint can.
I prefer to use Samplize. This is a website that you can order a 12×12 inch sample of any paint color you want! Its peel and stick so you can put it on your wall and look at it the same way as you would with a paint sample. The great thing is when you are done you peel it off and throw it away! No mess and no leftover paint cans to dispose of.
I think this is the best way to test paint colors in your home.
Why Greige Paint Colors Are A Beautiful Choice
Greige paint is the best of both worlds. It’s a grey with paint with brown undertones.
It takes gray, which gives a current and updated feel, and adds just enough brown to it to give it a warm and inviting feel when applied to your walls.
The trick is to pick a warm grey which means you want a grey paint with some brown in it.
Because greige is essentially a perfect mix of brown and grey it’s considered a warm grey and literally goes with everything, which is the key to a really great neutral.

The Problem With Beige Walls
Now, I hope I’m not offending, but the problem with beige is that it’s really hard to pick the right one and oftentimes people end up choosing a beige wall color that turns out looking pinky beige, or even orange! You know what I mean?
Just like we avoid light that’s too yellow or orange because it’s not attractive, we need to avoid wall colors with those same undertones. When you’re not careful here these beige paint colors can make a room feel outdated or even a little bit dingy.

Heres my favorite tip when it comes to testing out a color like Perfect Greige go and order a peel-and-stick sample from Samplize.
These guys figured out a great way to sample colors much more easily. Simply stick it up instead of having to get a small can of actual wet paint.

This is another perennial favorite greige tone. Often, folks will compare the merits of Edgecomb Gray and Balboa Mist I love both of them!
Edgecomb Gray reads as a little more of a beige background to me, when comparing the two. Balboa Mist is just a little cooler and more gray and a touch lighter overall, but not by much!
Edgecomb is earthy and warm, with an LRV of 63.88. That makes it very comparable to Agreeable Gray, which is the most popular greige of them all. Test them both to see what works best in your home!

Benjamin Moores Revere Pewter is a soft and welcoming greige paint color. The popular shade translates beautifully on brick, siding, and stucco. It has an LRV of 58 so, falling somewhere on the mid-end to the lighter end of the scale.

Sherwin Williams Alpaca:
Sherwin Williams Alpaca is a warm greige paint that feels extremely cozy at the same time.
With deep warm-cool undertones, this paint makes a dashing statement in the transitional, traditional, farmhouse, and bohemian styles.
It has an LRV of 57 so, falling somewhere on the mid-end of the scale.
So, you can either use it as an accent or the bases while defining a clean warm undertone.

Benjamin Moore Balboa Mist
OC-27 is a creamy greige with an LRV of 67.37. Its a perfect greige tone for a variety of surfaces!
I love that this one can read as more of a true warm white, but offers the slightest touch of contrast. It reminds me of Pale Oak in that regard, so be sure to compare these two with samples!

Once I started looking for inspiration pictures, I noticed that Perfect Greige seems to look best for interiors that have more of a monochromatic scheme. I believe Perfect Greige works so well in the picture below particularly because of the reddish undertones in the wood and pops out nicely against the off-white cabinets and trim. The stone fireplace has a mix of stone colors that are both warm and cool. But, I see the mauve tones in there that pick up with Perfect Greige.
Keep in mind that Perfect Greige is more of a saturated medium-toned color that will go well in interiors that have vaulted ceilings and good natural light. Proceed with caution if you have low ceilings or not very good natural light. Perfect Greige could cause a cave-like effect that you might not want for your space! In some areas, that can be a positive. Do you like a cozy feel for your master bedroom? Or prefer some contrast with lighter selections in your bathroom? Then go for it!!

Sherwin Williams Repose Gray Sw 7015
Whether youre preparing your home for sale or living in it, Repose Grayis a popular warm gray paint colour. Repose Gray is a light gray that has SUPER subtle brown undertones with a wee dab of violet but can be VERY unreliable with it. Theres not enough brown to qualify it as a greige, but enough to add softness and stop it from falling icy cold.
In the above photo, look at how Repose Gray changes from the left side of the fireplace to the right oh the glory of NORTHERN EXPOSURE!
With an LRV of 60, Repose Gray is a light colour, but a heavy light, as it doesnt have the fresh, bright feeling youd expect in a typical light paint colour. It will hold itself nicely in a well-lit room, brightening up, but can look a bit drab in a darker, shadowed space.

2. SHERWIN WILLIAMS BIG CHILL SW 7648
Big Chill is one of my FAVE slightly cool grays. It has a wink of a stormy blue undertone, but its not an icy cold colour its calmer than that. Compared to the EVER popular Benjamin Moore Gray Owl, Big Chill has far less green-blue undertone, making it look more like a typical gray.

Best Gray Paint Colors Recommended By Designers
In this picture, it looks white when paired with the SW Realist Beige finish, but it has the right fat undertones and is similar to Benjamin Moores Pale Oak.
If youre using it on interior walls, pair it with true white paint for extra contrast, or consider my favorite wall painting trick and use the same color for the finish.
The Classic Gray OC-23 is absolutely stunning! While it can still be considered white, this color background also lends itself to the greige family.
