A kitchen by Amhad Freeman showcases wall cabinets in Sherwin-Williams Crushed Ice.
This is the most absolute perfect color of light gray, and its as close to white as possible. I request that the cabinets be primed with standard white primer, as it will provide a clean and clear backdrop for the truest color. Always use semigloss paint, and have the cabinets hand-painted for the best look. This way, if the paint chips or gets scratched, they can be touched up much easier!Amhad Freeman
Its the perfect shade of creamy white and looks great with anything from veiny Paonazzo marble to Belgian Bluestone countertops. A little tip: I always recommend a hand-painted finish. I really adore seeing the faintest hint of paintbrush lines I think this adds so much character.Alyssa Kapito
Other Favorite Whites Options From Benjamin Moore
- Simply White One of the most popular white colors and was voted as color of the year in 2016. The color is a warm white and under the off-white category that gives a clean white but not overpowering white. It has a green, blue and a hint of yellow undertones that prohibits this paint from being under the cream category.
- Considered as a bright and crisp white paint and under a cooler whites category. It has purple, blue and gray undertones.
- Swiss Coffee A creamy off-white paint color with yellow and a little bit of green undertones. Due to its high light reflectance value it has the tendency to appear like a light beige at times.
- Chantilly Lace One of the brightest paint colors on the market because it has an LRV of 92. Compared with simply white and decorators white, Chantilly lace has a hint of a gray undertone in it but overall has very neutral undertones.
- White Dove A creamy paint color with warm gray undertones which keeps this paint from displaying a yellow undertone which is a common problem with warm-toned whites.

What Primer Is Best For Painting Cabinets
If you are going to paint your kitchen cabinets while not being there or like a stinky smell, then Kilz primer, Bin Shellac, or other oil-based primers are a great option. It will completely help cover imperfections but is not one we use all time. Professional painters will state you need an oil-based primer to stop the tannins or natural bleeds that happen from wood. You need to be able to handle the smell and mess though of using an oil-based primer.
Our favorite primer is a multi-purpose latex-based primer from Sherwin Williams. It is easy to just grab this product and prime furniture, cabinets, or trim. Since it is water-based, you may have some color bleed through over time. We painted our oak kitchen cabinetsover 7 years ago and only have one stubborn door where you can see a slight discoloration. We just simply added another coat of paint.
Another primer that is probably comparable to Sw is Benjamin Moore ADVANCE Interior Paint-Primer.

Sherwin Williams Top 4 White Paint Colours Undertones And More
After my blog post re: The 8 Best Benjamin Moore White Paint Colours, I received TONS of emails and comments asking for the same thing in Sherwin Williams. Oh, you are a demanding bunch ! Seriously though, its via your comments that I get some of my BEST blog post ideas!
Sherwin Williams has some pretty wicked whites, so the chances of finding the perfect one for you and your home are pretty good especially when you have me in your back pocket .
As youve probably discovered, whites can be a real bugger. Not only do you have to think about which undertones are hiding in them, but theyre also HUGELY susceptible to picking up reflections from the environment, such as:
- Green grass or landscaping outside the window
- Warm-toned woods
- Strong coloured furniture or drapes
- Light bulb temperatures or the colour of glass on light fixtures/shades

What Is The Most Popular White At Sherwin Williams
The most popular white paint colors are ones with neutral undertones that arent so bright that they dont cover well.
The most popular white at Sherwin Wiliams is Pure White as it is often used on doors and trim but the most popular white cabinet paint at Sherwin Williams is Alabaster White because of its slightly warm undertones. Both paints cover better than brighter whites with higher LRVs like Sherwin Williams High Reflective White and Sherwin Williams Extra White.

Pure White Sw 7005 Sherwin Williams
This one I was surprised about. Sherwin Williams Alpaca is a warm, greige/taupe paint color. Its warmer than Repose Gray. I think Alpaca is a popular kitchen cabinet paint color for the fact that it is a warmer taupe-ish color. Taupe paint colors work well with fixed elements like tile, with pink undertones. So the slight taupish feel of Alpaca makes it an extremely useful color for kitchen cabinets.
Prep The Painting Area
Next, use a cleaner degreaser to clean the surface of the cabinets thoroughly.
You can also make a cleaner at home by mixing half a gallon of water and half a cup of distilled vinegar.
Some primers come with clear instructions about what cleaners you can use with them, so read the instructions thoroughly before you begin.
If there are holes or imperfections on the cabinet surfaces, patch them up using wood filler or putty. A smooth working surface will ensure easier application.

Things To Consider While Purchasing Paint For Kitchen Cabinets

Only looks will not give that finish to your painting surfaces it takes much more than that. So, we have gathered some major points you should be considering while buying your favorite worthy option paint.
What Is The Best Sherwin Williams Paint For Cabinets
In the past, we have always use a latex enamel paint when painting cabinets. I am a big fan of Sherwin Williams ProClassic line. However, after using Sherwin newer Emerald Urtherane Latex Enamel paint, I will never use any other paint for cabinet painting.
We talked about the pros and cons of this paint when we painted our kitchen island cabinets. The finish is harder and more durable than the Proclassic line. It also is self-leveling so it really gave such a smooth and professional-looking finish. The only con was that the cabinets were tacky to the touch for a few days. But if we could survive with young children and not ruin the cabinets, then you can too!

Is Sherwin Williams Extra White Good For Cabinets
Sherwin Williams Extra White is a good option for cabinets in kitchens with white or gray walls. Its not as stark as High Reflective White but is more of a neutral than BM Simply White which leans warm.
BEnJaMIN MOORE Ultra White vs. Sherwin Williams Extra White
I wanted to mention Sherwin Williams Ultra White because its another common bright white for cabinets, trim and doors but I would put it in the cool whites category. However, it can lean too hard toward the cool undertones making it too stark in my option. Sherwin Williams Extra White is more neutral and a better pick between the two. If you want a cool white, go with Sherwin Williams Ultra White or Decorators White.
Is It Better To Spray Or Brush Kitchen Cabinets When Painting
Ultimately, it is better to spray your kitchen cabinets rather than brush paint them. A spray-on finish will typically be smoother and look more polished than a brushed on finish. However, this does not have to be the case. It is possible to get a smooth, professional result with a brush and roller combination. Using quality tools and the right paint will go a long way towards achieving beautifully painted cabinets.
One benefit of using a brush on kitchen cabinets is that you don’t have the overspray problem with a sprayer. No need to cover everything in the room before painting!
